Choosing the Right Eyeglasses and Frames in Colorado Springs, Falcon, and Windsor

While our caring and professional team is glad to help you choose the perfect frames, the pointers below can give you some ideas to start with and to think about before coming in. Your Facial Shape Matters

Select Your Frames

The shape of your face will help dictate which frames look the best on you.

  • An oval shaped face is considered to be ideally balanced. To keep that balance, choose frames that are at least as wide as the widest part of your face.
  • Because a round face doesn't have any angles, you want to make it look longer and narrower by choosing narrow frames that are angular.
  • Add width to a long oblong facial shape by choosing frames with contrasting or decorative temples. You can also choose frames that give the impression of more depth rather than width.
  • To soften a square face and its angles, choose a style that is narrow, such as one with ovals. Another good choice for frames might be those that are less deep and wider.
  • With a diamond-shaped face, choose frames that help soften its high cheekbones and widen the area around the eyes. Choose frames that are oval or rimless. Cat-eye frames as well as those that have brow lines that are decorative or distinctive in some way.
  • A base-up triangle shaped face, also known as heart shaped, is smaller at the bottom and wider at the top. To help even out the balance of this facial shape, look for frames that are rimless, that feature light materials and colors or frames wider at the bottoms.
  • With a face that is shaped like a base-down triangle, you want to add width and emphasize to its top by choosing cat-eye frames or ones that have a lot of details and/or color on their top halves.

Match Your Frame Color to Your Skin Tone

In order to look your best, it is a good idea to stick with frames that are in the same color tone as your skin. Everyone's skin tone can be classified as either warm or cool, depending on its color base. A blue base is considered to be cool. In addition to skin tones with a blue base, pink-based skin is also classified as cool. Warm complexions have a yellow or peaches and cream tone. Olive skin is a cool skin tone because it mixes both blues and yellows.

If you, like about 60 percent of the people in the United States, have a cool complexion, choose darker frames. Warm skin tones look best in lighter frame colors or ones that are brightly colored.
