  • Age-related macular degeneration: progressive central vision loss due to gradual thinning and scarring of the macula (center of the retina)
  • Astigmatism: blurry vision caused by an abnormally shaped cornea, eye, and/or lens
  • Nearsightedness and farsightedness (myopia and hyperopia): blurry vision at distant or close up distances (respectively), also caused by changes in eye, lens, and/or cornea shape
  • Cataracts: vision loss due to clouding of the typically-clear lens inside the eye
  • Conjunctivitis: bacterial or viral infection of the eye causing redness, itchiness, and other symptoms (also known as pink eye)
  • Diabetic retinopathy: progressive vision loss due to gradual damage to the retina secondary to diabetes-related complications

  • Eye allergy: itchy and uncomfortable eyes due to an excessive autoimmune response to an environmental allergen (e.g., dust, pet dander)
  • Glaucoma: progressive vision loss caused by damage to the optic nerve, typically associated with an increase in inner eye pressure
  • Keratoconus: vision distortion caused by the cornea gradually altering into a thinner, more conical shape
